We're building the kind of workplace we support our clients to build — come help us do it.
You're not just keeping the trains running - you're helping build something.
You won't be shielded from the thinking behind the work - you'll be part of it.
You'll be treated the way we encourage our clients to treat their people.
We're looking for a detail-oriented HR & Administrative Contractor to help our founder work more efficiently and, over time, take on execution work that directly supports our clients. This is a part-time, flexible role (roughly 10 hours/week) with a hybrid setup - some remote work, with occasional in-person time as needed. It's a great fit for someone who's a strong, polished writer, enjoys variety, and can be trusted to represent our brand in every document and communication they touch.
The role starts focused on keeping our founder organized and efficient, then expands into supporting client-facing project work as trust builds. Some projects may involve direct client contact; others will be entirely behind-the-scenes. We'll be upfront about which is which as work comes up.
● Help keep our founder organized and efficient: managing correspondence, scheduling and
coordinating meetings across calendars, organizing files, and handling data entry
● Draft and polish written materials - job postings, communications, internal documents, and presentation decks - sometimes for internal use, sometimes for clients
● Support client project execution as scope allows (may or may not involve direct client contact, depending on the project)
● Assist with payroll-related administrative tasks (timesheet tracking, coordinating with our bookkeeper/accountant) - prior payroll exposure is a plus, not required
● Experience in HR and/or administrative support roles
● Strong written communication skills - comfortable drafting polished documents, emails, and presentations with minimal direction
● Highly organized, with good judgment about priorities and confidentiality
● Comfortable with common tools (e.g., Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, scheduling tools, website platforms & QuickBooks online)
● Reliable, self-directed, and communicative - this is a contract role, so we're looking for someone who manages their own time well
● Payroll or bookkeeping-adjacent experience is a plus
● Commitment: ~10 hours/week, flexible scheduling
● Compensation: $35/hour to start
● Arrangement: Independent contractor (1099); hybrid - mix of remote and in-person as needed
● Location: Richmond, VA
